The Build - Ground Floor Walls
Straw is a hidden gem of a building material. It is a by-product of cereal crop growth that locks up carbon dioxide as it grows, is strong enough to build walls with, has excellent insulation and acoustic properties, is comparatively cheap and can be built by novice builders and volunteers (with a bit of supervision!).
Temporary roof in place, it was time to start on the walls.
It took about three weeks; one week of an Amazonails volunteering event and then two weeks of my neighbours and I finishing off.
Once the walls were complete I used Acrow-props to take the weight of the floor before stripping off the [timber] props and lowering the floor into place.
