Another area still up in the air at the moment!
If I can sort out the photo-voltaics I will probably use an electric immersion heater for water heating, combined with a home-made solar thermal pre-heating system.
Having slept in the unheated house through a winter my initial thoughts about not needing space heating may have been a little optimistic (although it did help when I got the last of the windows fitted in December!) but it won't need a lot of additional heat.
Having recently discovered the concept of rocket mass stoves I am very eager to experiment with one but need to find a way of adding additional reinforcement under part of the floor that I failed to anticipate would need to carry three tonnes of cob and duct! I'd like to also use this to heat water.
